My kids LOVE play dough! I am always on the lookout for new ideas and projects involving play dough. So, on a rainy afternoon while my older children were at dance class, I decided to try out this cute idea posted on my friend Paula’s blog with my three youngest. They had a blast!
Supplies:
- Uncooked spaghetti (or pasta of choice)
- Play dough (or “Play Doh”)
Dee enjoyed experimenting
Curly Top made a girl with long blond spaghetti hair
Developing fine motor skills: Dee learns to roll dough
Self-guided play: Dee smashed her play dough ball and used the dough lid to make impressions
She then used the pasta to make (what she called) “a smiley face”
At Curly Top’s request, we soon brought out the cookie cutters and toy rolling pin.
Curly Top made the moon and stars
And Dee tested out a cookie cutter on her own
Rey made a snake (or was it a worm?) and gave it “bunny ears”
I made a kitty cat :)
Another of Dee’s creations
Ahhhh….I love you, too!
Doesn’t she look proud? :)

Rey, still on the snake/worm/caterpillar? theme
Curly Top’s ant
I love the determination Dee showed in working with cookie cutters
Great fine motor and sensory activity for toddlers!
